Walk Of Life by Che’ Ahmad Azhar
Che’ Ahmad Azhar has been wandering the streets of his beloved city Kuala Lumpur for as long as he can remember. In the Eighties, he prowled the streets of Petaling Street, Leboh Ampang, and Pudu as a young and eager Ad man escaping work and searching for relief. Those were defining days of youth that blew by as fast as a summer breeze.
These days, a much older Che’ continues wandering the same streets, the same neighborhood, corner to corner, from dawn to dusk every Saturday. But what was once a prowl is now a more paced walk. His search of old is now more a discovery. Faceless street vendors, food stall owners, fortunetellers, street masseurs, barbers, parking attendants, and security guards are now friends. Che’ has become the very streets he walks with such familiarity.
In 2007, Che’ took a more avid interest in his encounters and found friendships and picked up a little camera. He has been photographing his walk of life ever since.
It would seem that age has crept up on Che’, but Life certainly not.
