Zaanse Schans

Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, near Zaandijk in the municipality of Zaanstad in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It has a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses; the houses from all over the Zaanstreek were moved to the museum area in the 1970s. The Zaans Museum, established in 1994, is located in the Zaanse Schans.

The Zaanse Schans is one of the popular tourist attractions of the region and an anchor point of ERIH, the European Route of Industrial Heritage. The neighbourhood attracts approximately 900,000 visitors every year, according by Wikipedia.

The windmills were built after 1574.

A clog is a type of footwear made in part or completely from wood. Clogs are used worldwide and although the form may vary by culture, within a culture the form often remained unchanged for centuries.

Traditional clogs were often worn in heavy labor. Today they remain in use as protective clothing inagriculture and in some factories and mines. Although clogs are sometimes negatively associated with cheap and folkloric footwear of farmers and the working class, some types of clogs are considered as fashion wear today, such as Swedish clogs or Japanese geta.

Clogs are also used in several different styles of dance. When worn for dancing an important feature is the sound of the clog against the floor. This is one of the fundamental roots of tap, but with the tap shoes the taps are free to click against each other and produce different sound to clogs.

A klomp is a clog from the Netherlands. Klompen are whole feet clogs.

Despite the fact that most Dutch no longer wear wooden shoes for everyday use, they remain popular among farmers, market gardeners and gardeners. The traditional all-wooden Dutch clogs have been officially accredited as safety shoes with the CE mark and can withstand almost any penetration including sharp objects and concentrated acids. They are actually safer than steelcapped protective shoes in some circumstances, as the wood cracks rather than dents in extreme accidents, allowing easy removal of the clog and not continued pressure on the toes by the (edge of) the steel nose. Some of the Dutch also consider wearing clogs as being healthy for the wearers’ feet.

Dam Square

On the way to Amsterdam, we stop at Rosada Factory Outlet in Roosendaal.

In Rosada you will find 60 different brandstores and always with a minimum discount of 30 to 70%. It is the shopping destination for established brand lovers in men’s-, women’s- and children’s fashion, sportswear, accessories, lingerie, shoes, bags and much more.

Dalam perjalanan ke Amsterdam kami singgah di Rosada Factory Oulet, tempat dimana kedai-kedai menjual barangan jenama terkenal seperti Adidas, Nike dengan harga yang murah. Memang murah berbondong-bondong membeli belah kalau banyak bawak duit hehe.

Finally about 1.00pm arrived at Dam Square, a town square in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.

Dam Square lies in the historical center of Amsterdam, On the west end of the square is the neoclassical Royal Palace, which served as the city hall from 1655 until its conversion to a royal residence in 1808.

Beside it are the 15th-century Gothic Nieuwe Kerk  and the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum.

The National Monument, a white stone pillar designed by J.J.P. Oud and erected in 1956 to memorialize the victims of World War II, dominates the opposite side of the square.

Also overlooking the plaza are the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky and the upscale department store De Bijenkorf. These various attractions have turned the Dam into a tourist zone. The square abounds with city pigeons, popular for birdfeeding.

Department store De Bijenkorf is a chain of upscale department stores in theNetherlands with its flagship store on Dam Square, Amsterdam. Founded by Simon Philip Goudsmit, it offers many prestigious brands in clothing, accessories, beauty, food, and home.

Gassan Diamond

We took boat through the canal to Gassan Diamond. We can see the old structure but still usable along the way from the boat. An explanation in Bahasa Indonesia make it more clearly about these canal and city. It took about 45 minutes before we arrive at Gassan.

Amsterdam has been known internationally as the ‘City of Diamonds’ for over 425 years. In fact, the brilliant cut, which originated in Amsterdam, is also known as the ‘Amsterdam cut’.

The Amsterdam-based diamond cutting and trading company Gassan Diamonds is located in a historic diamond factory, which used to be powered by steam.

Here we can watch diamond cutters at work, while a guide tells us all about diamond cutting process and experience the thrill of the diamond cutting and polishing process at Gassan Diamonds. We showed how a sparkling diamond emerges from the rough stone.

And of course some of our friends bought it! awesome!

Where Keukenhof is situated now, was a hunting area in the 15th century. Herbs for the kitchen of the castle of Jacoba van Beieren were also collected here; hence the name Keukenhof.

The current park was a section of the sizeable estate of Slot Teylingen, with beautiful untamed bushes and dunes. After the decease of Jacoba van Beieren Keukenhof fell into the hands of rich merchant families. Baron and baroness Van Pallandt invited landscape architects J.D. and L.P. Zocher, designers of the Amsterdam Vondelpark, to make a design for the garden around the castle. This design, in the English landscape style, has always been the basis of Keukenhof.

At the moment the estate belongs to a Foundation. On the initiative of the Lisse mayor of that time and a number of leading flower bulb growers and exporters, an open air flower exhibition was organised here for the first time in 1949. This expanded to an annually recurring event that has always drawn great numbers of visitors from all over the world. This is how Keukenhof became the park that we now know.

A historic park filled with blooming tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs.

At Keukenhof you can gain inspiration and relax in the beautiful surroundings. The 32-hectare park has 15 kilometres of footpaths. Keukenhof has surprises in store for visitors of all ages.

Red Light District

Daerah Lampu Merah..haha

De Wallen is the largest, and best-known, red-light district in Amsterdam and a major tourist attraction. It is located in the heart of the oldest part of the city, covering several blocks south of the church Oude Kerk and crossed by several canals.

De Wallen consists of a network of alleys containing approximately three hundred tiny one-room cabins rented by prostitutes who offer their sexual services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.

The area also has a number of sex shops, sex theatres, peep shows, asex museum, a cannabis museum, and a number of coffee shops that sellmarijuana.

Coffeeshops are establishments in the Netherlands where the sale of cannabis for personal consumption by the public is tolerated by the local authorities.

Under the drug policy of the Netherlands, the sale of cannabis products in small quantities is allowed by ‘licensed’ coffee shops.

kat Malaysia mana ada semua ni..haram..hehe:) – kat Mesia ada daun ketum..boleh dikomersilkan..haha

Grand Place

We took our lunch at La Moule Sacree, a restaurant near Grand Place in the central square of Brussels, Belgium. Makan ayam grill dengan fries, lapar nasi dah ni..hehe.. Cuaca sejuk ditambah dengan angin dan hujan…fuu..

Grand Place; it is the most memorable and important tourist destination landmark in Brussels. It is surrounded by guildhalls, the city’s Town Hall, and the Breadhouse.  A UNESCO world heritage site.

Many souvenir outlet for shop around the corner and of course the famous brand Godiva chocolate.

Manneken Pis statue. One of popular legend in Brussels. it is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain’s basin. The famous statue is located at the junction of Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat and Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat. To find it, one takes the left lane next to the Brussels Town Hall from the famous Grand Place and walks a few hundred metres to arrive at the spot. The statue will be on the left corner. I can see that maybe it is the most photographed statue here in Brussels.

Finally check in and rest at Hotel Thon City Center, Brussels
